It's sort of in the same vein as hero worship with celebrities. It's one thing to be critical and another entirely to just decide, suddenly, that a developer has gone over to the dark side. I think it's pretty absurd, honestly, even if they did screw up with the downgraded graphics. Reading about this DLC on online forums, it occurs to me that tides have really shifted against From Software after Dark Souls II. Now we just need to see what this Project Beast is all about. More Souls content is a good thing in my book. Until then, I'll reserve judgement and prepare to die. If it feels rushed, or if the new areas are of the smaller variety, then we can discuss Bandai Namco short-shrifting gamers. If it's as complete and content-rich as Artorias I'll be more than pleased. That DLC isn't finished by the time the game is released necessarily (and when it is and releases as day-one DLC we have a legitimate problem.) With the extra resources and budget available to Dark Souls II it's unsurprising to see DLC come much quicker this time around. As certain members of a team finish up their role on the main game they're available to start work on DLC (or a different game.) Some things may not be finished in time for release and can either be scrapped or finished and released later as DLC. Undoubtedly the developers began working on this DLC before the release of the full game. People will also note that it's unlikely this was developed in just four months, which is also true. To fully explore the game and not just beat it as quickly as possible, you'll spend well over the 60 hours many reviewers reported playing to its finale. I have a hard time buying this argument, if only because Dark Souls II had plenty of content already. People will certainly accuse From Software and Bandai Namco of withholding this content from Dark Souls II and releasing it for extra cash. Later it was finalized and released as a marvelous expansion pack, though that wasn't the initial plan. Sometimes that's even true! Artorias was originally planned as content for Dark Souls but was cut due to time constraints. Now on to the inevitable controversy: DLC is often viewed as content cut from the original game. If you look closely, there's a dragon in the trailer that looks a lot like Seath the Scaleless from the original game.
